Jazz At The Museum
The Nutley Historical Society will present an evening of music with the Mike Luipersbeck Band on Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Nutley Museum, 65 Church St. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
This will be the fifth installment in the Historical Society’s “Jazz at the Museum” series. The Luipersbeck group first appeared at the Nutley Museum in November 2008 and had encore performances last year in May and October. The band’s repertoire features jazz standards, ballads, Broadway songs, swing and pop tunes and Latin compositions.
Members of the ensemble include Michael Gabriele—a former editor of The Nutley Sun and a 1971 graduate of Nutley High School—on sax and clarinet; Clifton resident Luipersbeck on drums; New Milford resident Peter Greco on piano and vocals; Bergen County vocalist and percussionist Corrine Somers; and renowned bassist Ron Naspo, a former professor at Montclair State University.
A “free-will” donation of $5 per person is suggested, which goes to benefit the Nutley Historical Society. Domenick Tibaldo is the president of the organization. The Nov. 13 event will include complementary beverages and snacks and the audience will be invited to tour the museum during intermission.
